Stayed out of WW2? An overwhelming majority of Americans said in the polls at the time they didnt want to join. That was as long as people here thought it would be another stalement like WWI. That changed once France fell, and the reports of the Blitz on England reached US shores, and the Japs and Germans allied together to threaten the US on both coasts. By then most Americans supported Aid to Britain, even if it brought the US into the war.
