Please quote me in full - you have omitted an essential part of my statement:
To be satisfied only with "the best you can hope for" is a recipe for failure in life.
I don't understand if you are agreeing with me or not - or merely making a corollary statement and/or adding your own "take."
A "hope" that is not a realistic expectation will, in all likelihood, be doomed to disappointment.
You are free to hope for whatever you like, but to refuse, on principle, to be satisfied with anything less is a recipe for disappointment.
