We onow that, but the hoards of low info sheep that watch CNN, ABC, msnbc, or late night talk shows for their news don’t know that, and they are the ones that do all the screaming at the sky, and breathless panicking while, they browbeat everyone they meet Into submission
Yep, and places like ca.ifornia have a.ready started charging more “during peak usage” times for electric, and charging 5o use electricity asked on income evidently. (Ie the richer they are, the more they are charged I guess)
Sadly I see the green energy push will unleash total misery, famine and death before people wake up to the global warming hoax. I expect wide scale blackouts with a high death toll as people, especially the elderly die of the effects of hypothermia and hyperthermia from a lack of heat or air conditioning. A few years ago a heat wave in Europe, where air conditioning is rare, claimed tens of thousands of lives primarily the elderly. The push to end diesel fuel and the direct threat of putting farmers out of business to save the climate will decrease the food supply to the point of famine. Already climate zealots are calling for reducing the population leading to ultimately policies of active or passive euthanasia of the elderly and infirm. We will descend into a green hell before hopefully people wake up.
If you want an EV to be really ‘green’ you would want it to be charged with ‘green’ electricity.
This ‘green’ electricity might come from solar panels. When do solar panels work best? They work best in the middle of the day. Where would an EV often be parked midday? In an employer parking lot.
An 200W solar panel is about 3 feet by 2 feet. A parking spot is around 150 square feet, or enough for ~25 panels, for a nameplate rating of about 5kw. An hour might give a nominal 5kwh of electricity, or about 20 miles (in theory), probably more like 12 miles in practice.
Much of the Sunbelt (southern third of the US) is quite sunny.
It should also be remembered that the tiny Chinese EVs Joe Biden has tariffed need less electricity per mile of travel.
Air conditioning was rare before 1950 even in Texas and Florida.
“hypothermia”
Electrically heated chairs and mattresses are possible.
“People won’t have children if they can’t afford them.”
This is mainly due to housing affordability, which can be addressed.
They keep pushing this crap here. In a place that has super abundant oil, gas, and coal we are paying over 30 cents per kwh plus a 22.50 per month connection charge.
“Stop them”.
That may happen when the dangers of gaseous OZONE emitted by EVs are recognized as a health issue.
“Ozone | American Lung Association” https://www.lung.org/clean-air/outdoors/what-makes-air-unhealthy/ozone
Personally I’m more worried about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide than EV-generated ozone, but you’re probably right.
Part of the problem is that most policy makers tend to confuse words with reality.
Far too many lawmakers and regulators are educated only in law, or “public policy”, or administration, or worse (e.g., “studies”). It’s relatively easy to propose things that sound good on paper, but that doesn’t mean they are even possible in the real world of physics, engineering, existing infrastructure and human behavior.
We would be better of if more (e.g., any) of these people had backgrounds in the real world.
