1979. I grew up just up the road from Greensboro so the shootout and its aftermath made the news every so often. The local libs have tried to make it out to be more than it really was, which was two groups of people hating each other enough to open fire. They even had a "truth and reconciliation" thing like what happened in South Africa after apartheid.

It was two gangs of losers who were out to kill each other. And that's it.

It was definitely the Klan vs. Communists. And those utilizing both groups for their aims. Cannot get away from a company fighting unionization. It was not “Norma Jean” (the movie).
