I learned on an automatic. My dad then taught me how to drive on a manual. My Toyota truck had a manual transmission. Kept that thing for 25 years.
I preferred driving manual until I got pregnant. Still prefer manual, but most minivans are automatic and I had a busy brood to haul around.
