Carbon capture on a Carbon Based planet is Insanity
There is no appeasing the greenies. We see that here in the U.S.
Has raising the CAFE standards year over year appeased the greenies? Nope.
Did switching over to "clean burning natural gas" appease the greenies? Nope.
The left makes it a point to NEVER BY APPEASED.
I planted 25 Douglas Fir trees on my property in the last two weeks — maybe I can get a lib to give me money to plant more?
Brought to you by the same people using the same rationale that is spewed about about “capturing sunlight”. The tech is bad.
You need to just laugh at such liars.
And when it burns up and kills every living thing? See, Horshoe Lake, in Mammoth Lakes California where every tree in the area was killed. See Lake Nyos Cameroon, where 1700 and all the livestock were killed from a CO2 fart.
The other scams aren’t working, time to invent a new one.
Assuming this stupid idea actually works and enough CO2 is actually captured to actually make a difference, the greenie weenies are betting everything on the HOPE it never escapes.
These morons assume there is ZERO RISK of a storage failure.
What will most likely happen is that the greenie weenies will be pumping CO2 into the storage area at the same rate it is leaking out for a NET ZERO OFFSET. In other words piss away yet more TAX $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I’ve got a couple dozen carbon capture devices I’m in the process of planting.
And the advantage is, they release oxygen, and do it all for free.
Percent 0f CO2 in Earth’s atmosphere: .04%
How would CO2 burn up? CO2 is not flammable and in fact is the primary ingredient in some fire extinguishers? A storage facility might over m-pressurize and leak, but it couldn’t burn. (Even that isn’t too likely since CO2 liquifies at a relatively low pressure at ambient temperature, less than 1000 psi IIRC).
Not that I think this is a good idea. But fire certainly is not why it’s a bad idea
This is the truth. I was reading this morning about a promising catalytic process that could allow conversion of CO2 to methanol, which could then be used as a gasoline additive or as a fuel in its own right (in a properly designed engine, of course). I wonder what kind of pretzel logic they will use to oppose something like that. They would certainly expose the lie that it’s the environment they are concerned with, rather than the real concern — shutting down economic activity.
Even though I think gas cars are better than EV's (for most cases), and natural gas is a good energy source, etc. The bottom line is that I can't make my own natural gas. Nor can I make my own gasoline. But I can make most of the power we need with solar. In the past 12 months, a hair over 80% of all the power we consumed was homemade from solar, with the other 20% having to be bought from the grid. That includes charging the EV to drive 15K miles this past 12 months with the home charged miles (local driving). Almost no gasoline cost (what little we drive the gas pickup). Of course, for long trips we have to by either gas or power (depending on which car we take).
With my wife retired and me quasi-retired, it's my goal to remove most of the energy price inflation that our budget wouldn't normally by hit with. Basically, one less way the Dims can control us with their slow-boil methods of creeping in a little more control over us, then a little more control, etc..
Iceland is doing this.
You know, volcanic Iceland...
Note to the citizenry: You lot have a lot more to worry about from your government than you do your volcanoes.
With time, heat, and pressure, wouldn’t
Carbon Capture make... ..coal?
Burying CO2 in sedimentary rocks is that like getting blood from a stone ?
A similar boondoggle is proposing a pipeline to capture CO2 from Iowa ethanol plants and transport it to an underground burial site in North Dakota. Already the promoters are using eminent domaine to place the pipeline across farmers fields in South Dakota ignoring the landowners rights. This pipeline poses unique health and environmental risks yet the anti oil pipeline crowd is ignoring the project.
It’s like pumping economic life blood into a stone.
CO2 collection and re injection is a common practice in the oil industry in order to maintain oil well pressure.
