Yes and no, girls are not joining boy scout troops, but they did set up a separate group for girls.
All of these types of organizations have been in decline for years, for many reason.
However, COVID lockdowns crushed memberships across the board... most are starting to recover, but are still well below pre-covid lock down levels.
Scouting is largely tied to churches, and church membership and attendance has been in decline for decades... Scouts, even without the homosexual stuff back in 2015 has been in decline.
No, girls do join Scouts, but they have to have their own section of Troop. But overall meeting activities they can be together. Trouble now is if there are enough girls to justify.
Churches do not actually have anything to do with Scout attendance. They simply allow troops and packs to use their facilities, sort of sponsoring. Of course they will advertise the troop to some extent, but troop is not drawn from the church.
Same for schools, which likewise allow this activity. Same even with Catholic schools. None of them strictly draw from the enrollments.
There is coordination between the facility and the troop/pack, but one does not feed the other.
