i finally saw GFIII a few months ago.

My biggest takeaway is Michael Corleone's awakening realization, after trying to go straight and clean up his image and lifestyle by helping the Vatican, that as he moved further and further up the hierarchy of respectability, the criminal element became even bigger than the Mafioso life he was trying to leave behind.
