The President of Pacific Grove Pony Baseball and Softball announced that recently, a registered sex offender umpired at least three games for them.
"Unfortunately, our umpire contractor, Peninsula Sports Incorporated (PSI), employed an umpire that was a registered sex offender listed on California’s Meghan’s Law website," said Paul Black, President of Pacific Grove Pony Baseball and Softball, in an email to families.
The games officiated by the person in question were:
Baseball, Mustang Division, Orioles vs. Monterey 1, April 1 at Ferrante Park
Baseball, Mustang Division, Cubs vs. Pirates, April 27 at George Washington Park
Baseball, Mustang Division, Cubs vs. Orioles, May 2 at George Washington Park
Black said they have that there have been no reported incidents and that all their children are safe.
People are asked if they suspect any inappropriate behavior did happen to report it to either Monterey or Pacific Grove police.
The PG Pony Executive Board has chosen to terminate its relationship with PSI, said Black.
All baseball and softball games will be officiated now on by umpires from the Clubhouse 831, Black said.
All Clubhouse831 have to pass a LiveScan background check. Black said the same background check is required for all PG Pony coaches and board members.
KSBW 8 asked both Monterey and Pacific Grove police if they were aware of any cases involving the umpire. They said so far they are unaware of any incidents being reported.
Why was he on the list? There is a considerable difference between sexually assaulting children and hiring a prostitute.
Or peeing into the bushes.
Peninsula Sports Incorporated (PSI) needs to be sued out of existence.
