The most destructive and permanently humiliating thing America ever did to Japan was drop the democratic socialist bomb on them after the war. The Japanese socialist security program was promptly started in 1947. That eventually killed the Japanese birth rate and ran up government debt to 263% of GDP, highest in the world. It did permanently solve the super aggressive, murderous, and rapey Japanese military problem.
