Happy 90th birthday today to the original Jersey Boy Frankie Valli (born 5/3/34). Known for his distinctive falsetto voice and as the frontman of the Four Seasons, one of the most successful vocal groups of the 1960s, along with a solo career that garnered hits such as “My Eyes Adored You” and “Grease.” In addition to his singing career, he has also ventured into acting and appeared in several films and television shows.
Growing up in the 70s, my father had all their music on reel to reel tapes. Even today (I’m 59), December, 1963 stops me in my tracks, and the beat takes control. Not kidding at all. My favorite music hands down because of the connection to my father.

That is the song I’m talking about.
A long run for the Mayor of Munchkinland.
My favorite is Candy Girl. Regardless, FV is one of the hardest working entertainers in the business.
Franki Valli did a concert in Prescott Valley AZ in March 2023. I wished I would have gone.

I think the world would be missing half the songs...
if the word ‘baby’ wasn’t around.
Far too many songs with ‘baby’ in the lyrics.

Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane/Starship) was infamous for her having a real ‘frenemy’ relationship with Marty Balin, and when she commented one day that she couldn’t stand love songs with the word “baby” in the lyrics, (so the story goes), Balin wrote the song “Miracles” specifically to spite Grace, as the word “baby” is used 30+ times in the lyrics of the song, and when the song was chosen as their next single, she was forced to sing it. :P
“Grease” and “oh what a night” are still played on the radio today
Absolute living legend. Still out there touring too.
We saw him a few years ago with the “new” Four Seasons. He was incredible, so much energy and a great voice.
90 and still walking like a man
It was a memorable 90 minutes, as we swapped stories about those days.
“The Jersey Boys” is an excellent movie. I wish I could see it performed as a play, but I missed out. It is up there with “Weird” about Al Jankovic, in feels and style. Loved them both, if anyone cares for my opinion.
Ic loved Jersey Boys too. I think Clint Eastwood directed it.
Grease is the word.
Written by Barry Gibb.
He did
Can’t believe they killed him off in The Sopranos.
A friend wanted to show me the Jersey Boys movie, and I thought, “Ho hum...” —but it was great! Hearing a lot of Valli’s music all at once was extremely entertaining. Terrific musician.
