Russian state media outlet Tass has reported that a Russian TU-22M3 strategic bomber crashed in Stavropol Krai, southwestern Russia.
The exact cause of the crash remains unknown at this time as some Ukrainian sources claim that it was shot down, which would mark a first for the conflict.
The crash comes as Russian bombers launched a series of missile strikes against Ukraine.

Supposedly returning from a mission, crew thankfully ejected and it hit in a remote area instead of a town. Three have been found and they are still searching for the last one. They say technical problem, but returning from a mission, who knows?

Even if it was not directly caused by the ukes it could be said it was indirectly caused by them. The increased operational tempo caused by combat wears things out and causes them to break. It was true for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and it would certainly be true for Soviet era equipment with their “eh, close enough” design aesthetic.
