Yes, Dickie did pretty well on vocals. Some guitarists just don't enjoy being the guy in front, Mike Campbell from the Heartbreakers is like that. He was content to do backing vocals for Tom Petty, but now with his own band, some of that hesitation has dropped away.

Anyway, I'm glad the Allman Brothers gravitated back towards the Gulf Coast instead of becoming permanent California residents. I got to see them in New Orleans twice, once at a little outdoor venue in Audubon Park called "The Butterfly", right next to the Mississippi River. Someone even took pictures:
