Four people have died and more have been injured in a knife attack in a shopping centre near Australia’s Bondi beach.
Australian media said four people had died and more had been injured by a man stabbing people at the Westfield Bondi Junction centre in Sydney.
ABC News reported that seven people had been taken to hospital, including a nine-month-old baby.

Police said they do not know identity of suspect or his motive, but do know he acted alone. What a load of crap.
5 dead and the perp is also dead. Police saying he acted alone.
Perp was confronted by Police woman on site. He raised knife at her she fired one shot and killed him.

Having lived in Bondi Junction several times, I am familiar with this shopping centre. The Bondi region is the heartland of Jewish people in NSW. If this is a terrorist attack, it may have been chosen for that reason. The perp could be a convert infected with SJS or a leftist foaming at the mouth with hatred for Jews whipped up by the 24/7 pro pali media coverage here. Most Conservative Americans have the impression that Australia and New Zealand citizens have been systematically disarmed over the last twenty years.

It’s weird, at one stage a customer in the mall turned and confronted the guy with the knife. At that the perp didn’t even look at the customer he just turned and avoided him. So he’s smart enough to avoid a slightly larger than himself man but dumb enough to raise a knife to someone pointing a firearm at him?

There are more firearms legally held in private hands in Australia than at any time in our history.
New restrictions were introduced in the late 1990s after a spate of gun massacres between 1987 and 1996, but they only affected a fairly limited number of firearms (basically high capacity semi-automatics), and further restrictions on handguns came in the early 2000s.
But only a fairly small proportion of Australians had ever owned weapons like that - we don't have the same culture around guns as the US does.
And the restrictions have been constantly exaggerated in the United States as well.
Law abiding citizens have little difficulty in owning firearms if they want to. But not all that many do compared to the US.
We do have universal registration, and actually carrying a firearm unless you are actually doing something like hunting at the time, etc, is heavily regulated. Storage rules are also very strict.
