TGIF: No Justice. No Peace. No Hors d’Oeuvres!
Biden won’t debate Trump. Football great O.J. Simpson is dead. Dearborn residents chant “Death to America!” Plus: the Pope is Catholic.

The White House argument is something along the lines of: it debases the president to get onstage with such a buffoon. The obvious subtext here is that Biden is an old man, and his verbal stumbles are a major risk, so why put him out there like that?
In a funny aside, the White House press officers won’t even let reporters hold the mic when they ask a question, which caught the eye of New York Times White House reporter Katie Rogers, who wrote: “I’m sorry but what is with this death grip on the microphone by the White House? Let the reporter hold his own mic. . . the leaders can handle it.” But can they?

Pedojoe can’t debate. Let’s face it, he’s a couple of corn cobs that were left in barn for too long. There’s nothing going on between those ears. And no cornpop is going to rectify it.

So JFK and Nixon and ALL following presidential candidates "debased" everything?
Trump is a "buffoon"...as opposed to demented, lying, bumblers Biden?

...it debases the president to get onstage with such a buffoon. That is why there were no presidential debates in 1964 and 1968.
In 1964 the "buffoon" was Goldwater, and the Democrats didn't want him defining himself against the image that LBJ had set for him.
In 1968 the "buffoon" was Wallace, and both parties feared he could throw the election into the House and set back the civil rights revolution for decades. The Republicans feared his inroads in the South, ruining Nixon's "southern strategy." The Democrats feared he would siphon off union votes from Humphrey.
These so-called debates are canned exhibitions of sound bites, so they might as well be abolished.

The White House argument is something along the lines of: it debases the president to get onstage with such a buffoon. Let me re-work the argument:
The White Hospice argument should be something along the lines of: it debases the senile buffoon in the White Hospice to get onstage with such a great former President.
Trump also should take a page from his third debate with Cankles in 2016.

Nixon didn’t debate McGovern in 1972. In fact, he never said his name in public.

Correct. Thank you for bringing that up. I’d forgotten that.

It's too bad that Nixon and his people were obsessed with getting a landslide in 1972. If Muskie had been the nominee (I don't know if CREEP and the "dirty tricks" crew deserve credit for knocking him out of the race) instead of McGovern, Nixon probably still would have won convincingly but maybe carrying 47 states instead of 49 (Muskie probably would have carried his home state of Maine along with Rhode Island).
Maybe Nixon could have handled the crisis in South Vietnam in March and April 1975 better than Ford did. At least the country would have been spared a year and a half of obsessing over Nixon's misdeeds (which seem petty compared to later Democrat Presidents and what we have since learned about a few earlier Democrat Presidents).
