Thank you. I’ve been here before, but many years ago. Different handle then.
I remember this! Funny stuff for sure.
I was a target. A deer hit me!
Our deer are pretty healthy so far in this part of the state. I think the number 1 killing of deer here are cars & trucks. You cannot drive for a half mile and not see a dead one in a ditch. We have some of the biggest buzzards I’ve ever seen, and crows so fat they can hardly get off the ground.
It’s a hemorrhagic virus caused by bite of midge fly. Worse time is August - October. Does not go across to humans.
I have some guns. Time to use them.
Yep, gotta be on the look out. Dem deer be
quick and fast. Just about can outrun that
lead you are firing at them or dodge them.
It’s a problem around here too. What we do is wrap a noose around it’s legs and drag it out into a field. Let the buzzards and other critters dine. Otherwise, by the time the county gets around they start to stink pretty bad. Close to a road on a warm sunny day with the windows open, the smell of fresh air, then a stop sign and a rotting carcass. Puke city.
Oh, man. I remember a night at about 2:30 am going home with a chauffeur from N.Y. City. I was an IT contractor working for Merrill Lynch in Manhattan around 1990. Building a new database. They were very generous at the time and offered me a chauffeur ride home. The ride was to Rural Kingwood N.J. about 5 miles to the Pennsy border, and 50 miles from N.Y. City. I warned him about the deer, but he was a student from Japan, and didn’t understand. When we got of of exit 15 on I78 in Clinton, it was foggy, and a herd of about a dozen deer were in the middle of the road. He was astonished, asked who do these animals belong to? I guess he never saw a wild animal before.
Funny story.
I’d rather their fate came from a bullet than that. I saw one deer maybe a couple of miles from our property a few years ago. It was oblivious of our presence, we were only about 10 feet away, in clear view. Just kept on walking in a straight line into the woods. Other deer would not go near it.
Saw two deer this afternoon when I walked on the trail. Neither one exploded, fortunately...but I’m not in New Jersey so wasn’t overly worried.
