In my opinion, the military would be much better off with the 6.5 Grendel and a modern update of the AK pattern rifle. Extremely effective in the field and war and much more cost effective.
Grunts are not going to be happy with this. Basic combat load weight will increase quite a bit. Every pound counts when you have to hump several miles under a hot sun or through a couple feet of snow.
