Nor do they have to flaunt it. They could have just left it quietly alone instead of rubbing our noses in it.

There is no such thing as coincidence. Not with these cretins. This action is purely intentional.

He didn't have to affirm his "preference" as recently as 3/29 with Easter looming in the shadows, but that's what he did.
He and his fellows were looking to see how far they could push it.
