My Dear ol’ Mom had a saying in her dotage: “Old age is cruel.”
We, the younger whippersnapper generation found it humorous, and shortened it into a gag line: “O.A.I.C.” Yup, Mom; sure enough.
Old age is not cruel to everybody. Some age well and remain mentally and physically active into their sunset years. Clint Eastwood is still making movies. Warren Buffet is still investing, eating ice cream and playing cards with bill gates. David Attenborough still making documentaries at 97. Fauci, whatever you think of him, still goes for a run everyday in his eighties. A lot depends on how you treated your body over the years.
