Dave Clark was one of they few pop stars of his era to maintain full ownership of his music, and he made a lot of money because of his business skills. There were those in the music business that were quite surprised he could work such a deal with the record execs in those days when most bands were unknowingly signing away the rights to their music.

He refused to let the band’s music be re-released on CD until he got a sweetheart deal.

He also ensured that his bandmates got a reasonable deal from his deals.

He sure did. He was amazingly forward thinking for the time.

As I recall, he started the whole thing to raise money for a football club. I think...
