You make a very important point with location. If you can’t take heat, being prepared means moving to a higher cooler location. The opposite if you can’t handle the cold... A moderate microclimate is best where it can be found, not too hot and not too cold.
It might take a couple years to fully adapt, but one’s body will indeed acclimate to the winter/summer temperature changes once you do go without modern climate control for awhile. We found this when we moved off grid...
