I had an old Chevy 6.

Drove on dirt roads. Had to dig myself out when I got stuck.

If I started to slip in the dirt, it was me and the ditch, not some family in the intersection.

I learned to ‘ride it down’, not give up and release the steering wheel.

Drove in snow. Slide off the road. Figure it out how to get back on the road.

All the above gives real driver experience. Not available to 155 Corvette kids.

In college I drove a '67 Dodge. It was a BEAST of a car, positively the biggest on campus. Got some admiration from a few of the faculty, especially the history department. But my friends and I had a lot of fun riding in that thing. It was truly a classic vehicle.

I wouldn't have taken a brand new BMW for the memories I had in that Dodge.
