“155 mph five seconds before impact and 87 mph when she struck the bike after slamming on the brakes.”

Pretty good brakes. Factor in 2 seconds perception/reaction time and that makes a 68 mile an hour speed reduction within the space of three seconds, yes?

if she was going the speed limit she would have being going -3 MPH at the time of impact. (assuming a 65 MPH speed limit)

155 mph and 5 sec before the crash was probably chosen as the data point where the speed started to drop. There is no inference that this includes reaction time, which probably happened before this point. Otherwise they would have said she was going 155 three seconds before impact.
