There's a video on youtube of a recent incident in NJ where a cop stopped a kid doing 100mph...at 2AM...in a business area. He had no license and was violating a couple of other laws. But the cop cut him a break and let him go when he should have,at the very least, had the car towed.

About 15 minutes later that same cop was called to the scene of horrible accident in town. Turns out it was the kid...who smashed into a truck at 100mph. He and the girl who was with him were killed instantly. They were on their first date.

The cop was beside himself with regret and remorse.

Many years ago when I was eighteen, I owned a brand new Camaro. I worked about thirty minutes from my home and traveled a two lane road. I was always running late and almost every morning I was speeding, weaving in and out of traffic.

One morning a sheriff came into the building asking my manager if he could talk to me. He said, “I have had multiple reports of you driving recklessly, I parked this morning waiting to give you a ticket, I could not catch you. You are a pretty young girl, and one morning I am going to respond to an accident and it will be you. I will help pull your dead mangled body out of the wreckage and zip up your body bag. Then I will have to call your parents and tell them you are gone. I can’t give you a ticket this morning, but I will be watching every morning and prosecute you to the fullest. Think twice before you kill youself and other innocent people”. I felt so bad, so guilty, so stupid, I never risked it again.
