The Jewish people have done without animal sacrifice since 70 AD. Israel was re-established as a nation in 1948, and the nation has not had animal sacrifice in the ensuing 75 years. I do not claim to be an expert on Judaism but am aware that there are four major groups within that religion: Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist. Especially within the first category, there are numerous groups like the Hasidim.

There is no central counsel for Judaism comparable to the Sanhedrin of New Testament times. The civil government of Israel is as secular as ours. To fulfill the prophecy of the Third Temple, as interpreted by dispensationalism, there would have to be a collective action of the Jewish people and their leadership. I don't see how the proposed sacrifice of red heifers or the possible construction of a Third Temple represents a collective action of this sort.

And let’s not forget the particular subset of Orthodox Jews who don’t recognize the modern nation-state as an actual successor of biblical Israel, deeming it to be a manmade creation and not one divinely instituted by God’s sanction.
