Before I retired I was in IT since 1983. I worked at 18 companies because most of my career I was a contractor. It was significantly better money and the jobs were so plentiful that once a contract ended the next one usually began the next week. Assuming I wanted to enter the workforce as it currently exists I am confident I could still go back. I am getting tons of requests in my email and although some of them are simply computer generated, others are not.
But there’s no way I’m entering the workforce as a currently exists. I have toyed with the idea of doing a day or two a week at Lowe’s on the floor. Just for fun. But frankly in return I’m way too busy. I’ve got 32 acres to maintain and I’m in a band and I teach Sunday school.

I got called on the carpet for my wrongthink too. It was in response to a direct question. My boss agreed with my opinion but told me that he was chewing me out just because he was told to and agreed with my opinion. It was more just so he could say he did it and I really didn’t care about the twit who “turned me in.”
I’m not far from being able to retire. My wife and I were just talking about a Home Depot job. I have actual expertise in one of their departments so I’d be a good hire.
I do customer product training and am really good at it. One of my other thoughts is to continue to work for the company on a consultant basis doing strictly specific training events.
