Apartments.com has either bought up or caused the demise of many local rental search agencies. Instead of working with real people with local knowledge, you are now limited to one of a few national companies like Apartments, Zillow, etc. completely via an impersonal computer interface.

I guess this is okay because Amazon killed most bookstores and many malls and retail stores and the public has voted with their pocketbooks in favor of this.

I imagine this will all be great until we find ourselves in a world run by just a handful of monopolies.

I hope they come up with something like Rollerball to keep us entertained.
