Another method is to take a cardboard box and tape a sheet of paper inside, then poke a pinhole through the opposite side. Point it at the Sun and it will be projected through the pinhole onto the sheet of paper. One of the oldest, and SAFEST methods of viewing an eclipse.

Correct post. However, for a sharper image put a piece o aluminum foil over a hole in the cardboard and pierce a tiny hole in it using a sewing needle.

We used that method for the 2017 eclipse.

Worked a treat!

And we got pics of the paper to show the progress of the eclipse.
