Never ever buy the 3M brand of duct tape. It doesn't stick and immediately falls off. almost invisible tape that never discolored

Really, then why does it turn yellowish and falls off after a few years?

During World War II, duct tape was a “go to” for repairing damaged wiring harnesses.

Johns Manville manufactured the tape, and we always ordered from JM or from another plant in Ohio.

Warren Grimes invented the familiar RED and GREEN wingtip lights for aviation. During World War II, somebody at one of his facilities (Urbana, OH), started using duct tape to wrap portions of wiring harnesses. That was the result of, or having heard about, a need for quick harness repair. Something like that.

Anyway, Johns Manville was the “go to” supplier with the sticky stuff.
