I’ve been around many kinds of employers - from farmers to chicken processors, to fast food/service industry. They all, without exception, are crying (and have been for decades) how they cannot get workers worth a crap - who will show up and work an honest day’s labor for an honest day’s pay. Even when raising their opening hourly pay + benefits. “Americans’ have, as a whole, become a lazy culture. Sure - there are still some hard-working folks. But there is a reason that your chicken in processed primarily by Hispanics. Even $25/hr and a $5000 starting bonus if you say for at least 4 weeks doesn’t keep “Americans” working there.

Why work? When you can stay home and claim any number of socialist welfare programs, federal, state, and local - and even non-profit? When you can panhandle on a busy street corner and make more than 50% of the population in the area. All you have to do is endure cold or rain (those are the highest-income days for most panhandlers).

This “huge homeless problem” is a product of several things - but mostly of the bad decision of drug abuse (#1 cause), and mental illness (the #2 cause - but greatly influenced and compounded by #1).

I agree with that. A better solution is no more government handouts, send all the illegal aliens back, and crack down on the drug cartels. Give the FBI something to do for a change.

I’ve seen very “organized “ panhandling. Vans dropping off and picking them up high traffic locations - busy intersections, shopping centers and malls. My wife thinks it Church groups or charitable organizations doing the “dropping off & picking up”. I think she is engaging in wishful thinking.
