New Jersey Family Loses Infant in Deadly Attack By Family Dog

A New Jersey family suffered an unthinkable tragedy over the weekend when their infant child was viciously mauled to death by their own dog in their family home.

In the early hours of the morning on March 9, Woodbridge Township police responded to the family’s home after receiving a call about an unresponsive baby, according to police and Middlesex County prosecutors. When they arrived, they discovered the child dead at the scene with “serious injuries from the dog,” which had also attacked the parents when they tried to fight it off.

Both parents sustained injuries and were treated at a local hospital, then released later that day. The names of the family haven’t been officially released.

A spokeswoman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor said Monday that the infant was a 3-month-old boy. She added that the dog was a pit bull and had been euthanized after the attack.

How come these kind of tragic stories never involve golden retrievers, labradors, and cocker spaniels, etc.? Because most dog breeds are suitable to have around children.

Pit bulls, not so much and I don't care how friendly they are "most of the time." Bringing a pit bull into a home with small children is little different than bringing in a rattlesnake and turning it loose.

Your right morons shouldn’t own pit bull or any dogs for that matter.

There are some insurance companies that will not insure people who own Pitbulls because of the liability.

As soon as I saw the article's title on the Yahoo home page, I knew exactly which breed it was.

Either a cocker spaniel or a golden retriever!

My wife and daughter have been breeding dogs for over 25 years.
We have shown at AKC shows for all that time.

The problem is that Pit Bulls were only bred to kill and fight. Hundreds of years ago they took a Bull Dog and mixed it with a Terrier.
Bull Dogs were originally bred to fight a Male Bovine(a Bull) and latch onto the Bull’s snout and not let go.

All Terriers were bred to kill vermin. Mostly rats. So, they are all naturally aggressive. Even little Jack Russell Terriers were bred to kill rats. The result was the American Staffordshire Terrier(official AKC name).

So, they took a naturally born killer and crossed it with another breed(bull dog) that had incredible jaw crushing strength. Just like a wolf’s. Then over the years they selectively bred the most aggressive dogs to fight Bulls in a ring(a Pit).
They also started fighting dogs against each other.

Again, through selective breeding. Meaning the dead dog does not get bred, they came up with the Pit Bulls of today.

All dogs are aggressive to some extent. Chihuahuas can be nasty little buggers. So can Wiener Dogs. In fact Daschounds are some of the worst biters around. Again, because they were bred to hunt and kill BADGERS and other animals.

The difference is that a Chihuahua will come up from behind and bite you on the back of your calf or ankle. Maybe on your hand if you are sitting next to it on the couch.
Same with a Dachshound.

The DIFFERENCE is that none of those smaller canines can KILL YOU. Pit Bulls, Wolf Hybrids, German Shepard Dogs, Cane Corsos, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Chows, Akitas can kill you. Which is why they are dangerous.

The real problem is that most of those other breeds are EXPENSIVE. Therefore, the people that own them typically train them. Some of these canines are over $5000 for a pup.

Pit Bulls are bred extensively in the hood of US cities.
They are also bred extensively in the Southern US and Mexico.

In the northern part of the country, most dog owners get their canoes neutered or spayed. In the poorer parts of the southern US, they do not. So, there are a lot of puppies born. Many of these Pit Bulls come from down south and are shipped to shelters all over the country. Shelters are VERY PROFITABLE. They SELL dogs(Adoption). They are part of the problem. They bring pit bull puppies in from various places and SELL them to stupid Do GOODER Yuppies who VIRTUE SIGNAL by ADOPTING a PIT BULL MIX from the shelter. The shelter then registers the adoptive puppy as a “LAB MIX” because they know that insurance companies will not cover people than own a Pit Bull.

ALL PIT BULLS SHOULD BE EXTERMINATED.

IF you ADOPT one from shelter, you are part of the problem.

The biggest threat a Golden poses is licking you to death.

With Labs, it’s getting beat up by their tail.

Never had an unfriendly or mean dachshund!
If they’re that way it’s because they have been mistreated.

You need to research what Dachshounds were bred for. They are a member of the HOUND family of dogs. Meaning they were bred to HUNT animals. The AKC recognizes three different Dachhounds. Smooth coat, Long coat and Rough coat.

From the AKC website:

“Bred to be an independent hunter of dangerous prey, they can be brave to the point of rashness, and a bit stubborn,”

https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/dachshund/

Here is an article about Dog Attacks:

https://www.forbes.com/advisor/legal/dog-attack-statistics-breed/

Here is a quote from another article regarding dog bites:
What breed of dog attacks children?

The most frequently reported dog breeds who had bitten (and were not classified as mixed) were Pit Bull (27.2%), German Shepherd (10.5%), Labrador Retriever (7.2%), Boxer (4.6%), Rottweiler (3.9%), Beagle (3.3%), Jack Russell (2.9%), Bulldog (2.9%), Chihuahua (2.6%), Husky (2.3%), Golden Retriever (2.3%), Dachshund ( ...

Keep in mind that Labrador Retriever are by far the most popular dog breed. Beagles and Goldens are also very popular, so it not unreasonable for them to be listed in this statistic. There are more of these dogs owned than any other breeds.

FYI, my Beagles have never bitten me. However, we know not to get between a bitch fighting another bitch. We also never have two Dogs(males) together because they would fight over the bitches. My Chihuahuas have bitten me multiple times. However, they have never broken the skin.

We have one 3.5 pound Chihuahua that we call Killer. One minute she will be crying for me to pet her. Then five minutes later if I am still petting her she will try to bite me. If I can catch her, I will try to correct this bad behavior by yelling at her and putting her on the floor(gently).

Her grandfather is VERY protective of my wife. When I come home from work he runs up to me and wants my attention. Once I am done with that IF I try to hug my wife he will put his pays on my leg and growl at me. Again, he is only about 6 pounds. It is funny, but it also bad behavior. So, when he does it we ignore him. You do not want to reward bad behavior. That is how they learn.

Yes I’ve read that. My experience is so much the opposite that i question the expertise & the source. I’ve had 12 dachshunds. All of them sweethearts.

The average pitty is actually pretty friendly and faithful. The fighting dogs are bred from mentally ill dogs with a lot of mastiff in the mix and all their worst behaviors are encouraged by their owners. So yeah, those are not safe for families and weak minds; they shouldn’t be available for adoption.

Most people do not know how to interpret dog behavior. We have a female Staffy mix (classic pitty, 65lb) with lots of fear-anxiety, she’s on Prozac. When the fur on her back starts to rise you need to be super chill and calming. The dog was abused by little kids when she was a puppy. Beyond a shadow of a doubt she’s not safe for children and strange dogs. OTOH she (and our big greyhound) chased a big bobcat off last night, the cat was in our yard stalking the neighbors’ corgi (they let it out by itself, bad move). Our dog plays basketball with the neighbor’s teen boys (on the leash), they had no trouble with her. She likes drunk people who are calm and will fall asleep on them. The most important thing is that she obeys basic commands even when she’s having a meltdown. Otherwise I wouldn’t have her.

I’m sure you have and that is awesome. However, that is NOT typical of the breed.
You can not change the DNA or natural instinct of the breed.

I know a lady who breeds Dachshounds. They are yappy ankle biters. So, are our Chis.

A practical use for a pitbull would be to release it when a pack of “teens” raid a store. The store owner could use the effective defense of: “I feared for my life. I want an attorney. End of story.”

We had a German Shepherd & my kids could climb all over her but she was weird with people she didn’t know. Neighbor had his car towed & knew the driver. Dog never bothered him until my neighbors wife came out. The dog ran behind the guy & drew blood through his jeans. Kenneled her for 10 days for rabies & then had her put down. The vet set the first bite is free & the next one was by a known, dangerous dog.
