Florida governors have a long history of failing when they try running for president. Most of them fade away after they leave office. In the south Orlando area, my mother used to see former Florida Governor Reubin Askew and one time aspirant to the presidency slowly shopping on weekday mornings at the local Publix — just another silver haired retiree picking over the produce and trying to scalp a few bargains by comparing prices.
