You sound exactly like Karl Rove when every election, he would urge the Republicans to “move to the center” (consultant speak for “compromise with evil”). It never worked, and fortunately Trump came along and proved just how wrong he was. Either you’re not MAGA, or you’ve missed the entire point of the movement, and the secret to Trump’s success. That secret is to just be transparent about obvious truths, and treat people like adults who can handle it, instead of trying to carefully calibrate every word as the establishment and the consultant class does. No one wants “democrat lite.” They either want the real thing, which they can get from the dems, or they want a clear alternative in the Republicans. That’s why it’s essential to provide a stark contrast to what the dems are offering, instead of trying to soften your own message.
To think that you’re going to somehow trick left-leaning “soccer moms” into voting for Republicans by soft-pedaling the truth to them is just absurd. They don’t see things our way on most issues, but they DO value safety and economic security. And no matter what some women claim about “the patriarchy” and similar nonsense, deep down they all want a strong, serious man to lead and keep them safe.
Were we in placid, easy times, that instinct might not matter, freeing them to obsess over less serious, and more liberal things. But our situation is now so dire on every front that even these women are starting to get it. They want a return to safety and stability like everyone else, and neglecting to respond directly and forcefully to the absolute deranged lunatic that Biden was tonight does nothing to allay their concerns.
