Rather, it's more like 1938 (Sudetenland, Austria) or '39 (Poland) - with Putin playing the role of Hitler.

You have an ass backwards. The lesson of Munich is exactly the opposite. NATO is an aggressive expansionist socialist entity that cannot be appeased. When Putin realized that no diplomacy of any kind was going to work after about a decade or two of trying, he decided the only thing that would stop us is taking action. He had a bad choice and a really bad choice so he took the lesser of two evils.

Putin wonderful lesson of Munich, that no piece of paper we offered him would give him any protection.
