I really hope Sen. Rick Scott has a shot at this.
I'm not sure if it will go to the "next in line" like Thune.
The GOP senators - at least half and possibly a majority - want change.
I think Rick Scott is well placed to run and WIN.
He's from an important state, has loads of experience and had the balls to challenge McConnell last time and take him on.
I think his colleagues who want change will appreciate these qualities.

He’ll need 25 out of 49 votes. And Mitch McConnell has hand-picked most of the 49.
This is why he worked SO hard to defeat conservatives in election after election.
Rand Paul! He votes conservative 100% of the time!
This is a worry. McConnell must know he has the votes to install one of his soldiers or he might not have stepped down. At least there will be one less vote with Romney gone.
It will be John Thune, who used to be conservative, but is now Uniparty. He is McConnell’s number 2 man and has been groomed by McConnell for this very moment.
There are few people who want the job. From what I have read, very few senators know the arcane rules of the senate and how to use them effectively. This is one reason why McConnell has been there for so long. Apparently, he has been considered a master of these rules and why the other senators keep voting for him.
I would love to see someone like Josh Hawley become leader, but that will never happen. Senator Kennedy would become a folk hero and Rand Paul - I love the guy, but as a leader, his foreign policy gives me pause sometimes, but otherwise, he is perfect.

They’ll likely have the leadership election after the general election in November. That’s how they usually do it, and why Mitch said he’d step down after November instead of in January. So Romney may still be voting for the next leader. It’s how they do things to maintain power.
Of course they’ll be an actual election behind closed doors including newly sworn in Senators in January, but they’ll want to give their preferred person momentum.Never
We’ll see what happens. But most of the Republican senators are pantywaists, and have been chosen and allowed to be elected (or appointed) because they are such.
In of itself “GOP Leader” is an oxymoron and has been for a long time and am not confident one of the few good republican senators would get the nod. Yes, Scott or maybe Ron Johnson or a couple others but that’s it but they’ll never get the votes.
The only real mistake in the Constitution was the Great Compromise and if the Founders knew that someday senators would be wed to a political party with grift and graft rather than their own states they would be horrified.
Rand would be great, but it’ll never happen. Mitch made sure the fix was in before saying “Adios”. (GOPs can fix elections, too.)
He won in 2018 by just 10,000 votes (+ 0.12%).
He is also 71 years old.
No human being gets smarter, healthier, more creative, or more energetic, in their 70s.
If he gets reelected and promises to retire in 2030, I would support him for Senate Leader.
I setup the computer network for a company that Rick Scott owned before he ran for Governor of Florida, if his behind the scenes skills as a politician are equal to his skills as a businessman then I would be for this, he was a stone cold businessman who didn’t tolerate fools to the point he was like the grim reaper
Flipping the Senate to conservatives is difficult but not impossible.

Whoever they choose will be worse than Mitch. He’ll keep the sense democtrat and he won’t let trumps judges in.
The RINO Senators will probably elect Cornyn.
Leader is a title but any real leader in Congress will be adamant that the Deficit Spending fraudacities are over.

I was referring to senators. There are currently 49 Republican senators.
I’d love for it to happen but I dont see it
