Thanks. I thought you were referring to chainsaws that connect to the internet, and I couldn’t see how that would ever be needed. I can see how a good engine chip might keep the thing running better for longer without having to adjust the carburetor periodically, though I still know how to do that.
I don’t like all of the safety features on newer saws. Things like anti-kickback tips on bars keep you from using the tip for a lot of things, and so on.
My favorite invention is the electric-only generator.
You plug it into an outlet, which powers a motor, and that motor generates electricity.
I guess I was conflating *smart* as in connecting to the internet with computer chip run.

Either way, no thanks.
I had an old chainsaw with no anti-kick, and was working on f8nishing a tractor trailer load of firewood- I was tired, and didn’t wa5ch my footing and slipped, and fell forward a bit- the chainsaw tip caught the end of a log, and it kicked up into my face- cut a nice gash through my eyebrow, hit my chin, and somehow cut under my nose- came very close to losing an eye.
I was “too macho” (ie too dumb) to wear safety gear. Result? Scarred up face.
The homeowner I was working for threatened to dock me for the down time. We laughed about it, and then I bit his ear off. J/k
Seriously though, wear at least a helmet with faceguard-
