A dumbass with a proclivity for keeping venomous reptiles as pets, dies from a bite. What part of this story should shock or sadden me?
darwin has eliminated a tiny bit of stupid from the gene pool.

A young, healthy Labrador Retriever is perfectly capable of killing people.

Gila monsters don’t even have fangs. They have grooved teeth down which their venom flows. And it’s not that fast acting like snake venom. This guy must have been allergic to it. Years ago, a herper friend offered me a chance to pet his gila monster. He assured me it was very tame. I still turned down the chance, heh heh.

If I remember the warnings years ago, a Gila monster has no fangs. It bites, hangs on and has to chew the poison,in the lower jaw, into the victim.
This will be interesting.

When I got married my wife made me get rid of my copper head snake ... after she found my king snake in the silverware drawer...
“It was a juvenile “
From what I understand ... the young ones have a more concentrated venom ...

A possum is a flat animal that sleeps in the middle of the road.

"...A young, healthy Labrador Retriever is perfectly capable of killing people..." Absolutely.
By beating them to death with their thick, wagging tail, or licking them to death...:)

I hsve heatd similar about the Komodo Dragon lizards.
Their saliva is quite toxic to humans. All it takes is prolonged contact, or a bite that breaks the skin.
But then, Komodos are larger and far more combative than this lizard.
