“Methinks if everyone over 65 bit the dust the economy would jump”
Only problem with that is ,if we all died off the world would be left with millions of stupid people.
I cannot disagree with your assessment.
It's not a problem, it's an inevitability. Look at the space program, for instance. Just 60-70 years after Americans took to the stars and landed on the moon, and the brain trust from NASA that developed the most powerful machines ever built by man are retired or dead. They can't recreate the Mercury or Apollo programs, because no one knows how to make sense of the blueprints left behind. They used their education and slide rules to put together complex machines and computers before computers were used to make those same calculations. Let that sink in.
While the educated folks are dwindling, we've become more concerned with our public profiles on social media sites and who is interested in what we had for lunch than we are with things like getting off of this rock that everyone seems to think is dying. In 50 years, we'll be pumping out mindless drones attached to every possible gadget imaginable, but the idea of doing calculus or chemistry will be so foreign as to be a quaint memory of human triumph.
This is no joke. People in their early 20s right now are a shockingly ignorant group. I mean, I was talking online to a young man who was complaining that his shower curtain rod broke and now he cannot take a shower until "maintenance" in his building comes and fixes it. I hope he was just trolling, but I've seen so many posts over on reddit by people claiming to be about this age and... as far as I can tell, their parents still treat them like 11 year olds, and they act like 11 year olds. They don't drive, they don't work, they don't know how to open a bank account, they are afraid to go anywhere alone, they all think they have some sort of trauma that makes them cry if you look at them wrong... I mean, it's like a boneless chicken ranch out there in Gen Z land. All they can do is play video games and complain.
