**The internet and the fact that God has pretty much been banished from the public square.**

Our little country church has lost kids to Sunday sports tournaments (baseball, softball, basketball, flag football, volleyball) right here in the Bible belt, because....

....of the “look at me” epidemic. And the hopes of “look at me” getting the kid a college scholarship, and/or making the kid (and the parents) rich and famous.

I recall about 4 years ago, when filling in for a sick truck driver, hauling ‘special’ dirt for a high school baseball infield. That load went over 200 miles one way. The shipping cost to the school was near double of the dirt...

...for kids, of which maybe 5% would go on to play in college, and maybe one kid in a generation would be good enough to play at least semi-pro.

And where does most of the sports gear come from?.... you know the answer.

One time in this country there were actual riots over playing baseball on Sunday.

And yet somehow the NFL had no problems playing their games on Sunday to the point where now Sundays are mostly associated with Football.

Even in England, they didn’t permit soccer games to be played on Sundays until 1974.

I’m sorry to hear that. However, where I am out west, the city softball complexes are all dark on Sunday (my granddaughter is on high school and city teams). Evening and Saturday games fulfill the whole schedule.
