I don’t understand why people dislike Taylor Swift. What has she ever done to them. She’s a total stranger. Most of us don’t even know what she sings.
Is she disliked because she has money or because she seems to be in a romantic relationship? Envy is so unattractive.
She’s a proxy for this country’s celebrity-obsessed culture.
I think dfwgator hit the nail on the head. Personally, to me, I perceive a stench of Leftism in her just from the things she supports and speaks out on, when she does.
And when she dates some douchebag who uses his celebrity to push vaccination against COVID, that grates on me even more.
I don’t listen to her. But I have seen her peripherally enough to know the path she follows. I have people in the public sphere I admire, but with few exceptions, they are not entertainment or sport figures, though there are some here and there I do admire.
I tend to admire people who have done something tangible other than making adolescent kids or sports fans scream. My Freep Page has a list of the kinds of people I admire or even regard as heroes. My parents. Thomas Sowell. Admiral Stockade. Phyllis Schlafly. Joseph McCarthy. Whittaker Chambers.
Those kinds.
