Chasing the guy down will make a self defense claim invalid. You can hardly claim to be in fear for your life if you go chasing after the guy. Even in Texas
Can you cite the law to validate that claim?
Thieves are not guaranteed a smooth getaway. You are allowed to confront their thievery, and if they are stupid enough to become a threat to you, your rights to self defense do not evaporate.
Your biscuits aint done in the middle are they?
They used to hang horse thieves and cattle rustlers.
Why? Because they were stealing a mans lively hood.
A very good deterrent to Stealing is to harshly punish it. A bad way to handle thieves is to give them a lolly pop and a pat on the head and say " you shouldnt do that, you hurt that persons feelings."
Hang 'em all and let God sort them out.
I have lost most of my sympathy for adults who steal.
