We’re teaching AI to understand and simulate the physical world in motion, with the goal of training models that help people solve problems that require real-world interaction.
Introducing Sora, our text-to-video model. Sora can generate videos up to a minute long while maintaining visual quality and adherence to the user’s prompt.
Today, Sora is becoming available to red teamers to assess critical areas for harms or risks. We are also granting access to a number of visual artists, designers, and filmmakers to gain feedback on how to advance the model to be most helpful for creative professionals.
We’re sharing our research progress early to start working with and getting feedback from people outside of OpenAI and to give the public a sense of what AI capabilities are on the horizon.

I asked AI to write a 3 minute duet for bass and violin in the style of Mozart. It did so in about 3 minutes. I downloaded it but couldn’t understand anything it told me about how to print it. Requests were answered by repeating the same instructions. I probably just need a 12 year-old.
Did you go to the website and watch the videos?
“Certainly! Here’s a three-minute duet for bass and violin in the style of Mozart. Since I can’t directly provide printable format here, I’ll present it in standard music notation. You can copy and paste this into a music notation software like MuseScore or Finale for printing.”
soundless videos.
SafetyWe are working with red teamers — domain experts in areas like misinformation, hateful content, and bias — who will be adversarially testing the model.
Sora Reply: "SURE!"
"Sora Prompt 2: Show me a confident President Donald Trump boldly and energetically striding across the platform to the dais and delivering a powerful policy address."
Sora Reply: "Sorry, Dave, I cannot do that."
I don’t remember a website. I’ll go look for the download, thanks.

My wife got a SIRI (or whatever it was) years ago. The kids had fun asking it to tell jokes.
I asked it “Hey Siri - tell me a joke about a priest and a rabbi.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t know any jokes like that.”
That was a good learning lesson for the kids. I think we had it connected for less than a month.
After watching the first video with the glamor gal in sun glasses I thought maybe it has trouble with eyes. But then a few videos later they had a close-up of a woman’s eye. If I hadn’t known it was AI I’m positive I wouldn’t have given it a second glance. Although in really looking, I didn’t notice the pupil changing size, which I think it would when looking in a different direction (lighting) and after blinking.
Scary stuff. Now even videos will be suspect.
Have you tried it out yet? I went to the Sora page but couldn’t find an input space for a test drive.
Did you notice the imperfections in her facial skin? Wow. Skin used to be uniformly smooth with a plastic quality and totally unrealistic.
