But that’s the problem. Michelle cannot pick Barry. Just as she could not pick someone born Italy. Or someone less than 35 years old. All those folks are not eligible in the first place.
Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution:
“No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

The key word there is “eligible”. A vice president is eligible to become president. Therefore, all the conditions apply to the VP as well. The 22A added term limits to these conditions.
