Tucker Carlson’s fulsome praise of Russia’s capital city is so far off the mark, it’s embarrassing.
Moscow,” Tucker Carlson announced this week, from his populist redoubt at the World Government Summit in Dubai, “is so much nicer than any city in my country. I had no idea. It is so much cleaner, and safer and prettier, aesthetically. Its architecture, food, and services than in any city in the United States. And this is not ideological. How did that happen?”
The simplest answer to this inquiry is that it didn’t.
I daresay that Carlson did, indeed, have a nice time when he visited Moscow. As a rich foreign tourist who was being carefully minded by the Russian government, he was undoubtedly exposed to the Moscow that its champions wanted him to see. And that city, I’ll wager, is pretty swell. But still. Better than every city in the United States? The idea is ridiculous. I have been to Moscow. I have also been to most of the major cities in America. There is no sense in which Moscow could be placed at the top of the list. There is a small part of the place that is rather pretty, and, thanks largely to the mafia, a few good restaurants have popped up, but the rest of it remains as bleak and moribund and soulless as it was during the Soviet era. It is a museum, and an ugly one at that.

Broad and Cecil B. Moore Avenue spend a night there a lot of other folks are.
It sounds like people who annoy me aren’t there.
I believe history shows that the Russians defeated the Nazis, with an especially strong defense of the city of Moscow. There is a massive Ikea now at the point of closest penetration to the city.
Tucker is against World Government until they pay him a million dollars for a speech in Dubai.
Hitler decided not to take Moscow, his priority was the oil fields of the Caucuses.
I think this was a big mistake, because taking Moscow, most likely would have been the end of Stalin, and the Russians may have started fighting amongst themselves.
Patriotism to neocon, Republican establishment, Never Trump types now equates to defending blue city, socialist hellholes like Chicago, San Francisco and Portland!
“It just depends on where you look in a country.”
And it depends on what your agenda is while looking.
I stand by my “Tucker is just pandering” stance. The only question is... why is he pandering to Russia. Is it merely to show that he’s anti-Ukraine (the most obvious, Occam’s razor explanation). Or is it something else.... something more devious that we haven’t considered.
Love the meme!
How many times does a MSM writer or interviewer tour a European city and write or talk about how open minded the residents are, great the mass transit, beautiful, and culturally enriched. Does NR ever criticize them? Enough said.
Is that true story?!
Moscow is a MAJOR city, the capital of Russia! You therefore can/should ONLY compare it to the likes of NYC, D.C., Chicago,Boston, L.A., and such in America.
There are many so called "cities" in the USA; however, many are just a small town...hardly a MAJOR city! And many such cities, here, are also disasters!
And your tagline is ridiculous! You state that Russians aren't "human beings". WHAT ARE THEY...PLANTS OR MINERALS?
Nobody is claiming that Moscow is an "ideal", UTOPIAN place to live. I doubt that you'll find anyone on FR claiming that they have a better form of government. And you and your ilk, here, who call those of us who disagree with you names, are not only being juvenile, but showing how uneducated and unaware you are.
Lets just call a spade a spade...America's major city and her capital are all utter disgraces, dystopian hell holes, and getting worse by the day.
The same can also be said of London, Paris, Berlin, and many more, all over the world.
Crime has existed as long as mankind has walked the face of the earth; this is nothing new. What IS new, is that many nations have actually INVITED the scum of the world into their countries and thusly destroying them.
When the Goths and Visigoths, the Vandals who sacked Rome, invaded Italy and when the the Mongol hordes invaded Europe, they went of their own accord, pillaged, looted, raped, and killed. BUT NOBODY OPENED THEIR ARMS AND GAVE THEM HOUSING, CLOTHING, FOOD, AND MORE, WILLINGLY!
Honestly it isn’t the cities are dead and falling apart it’s the citizens. We just plain suck.
“Globohomo” = Global Homogenization.
If it doesn’t smell like pee all over the place, Moscow probably is better.
SPOT ON and in spades; BRAVO!
“Hitler decided not to take Moscow, his priority was the oil fields of the Caucuses.
I think this was a big mistake, because taking Moscow, most likely would have been the end of Stalin, and the Russians may have started fighting amongst themselves.”
Then again... Hitler was on the same side (the evil side)... so ending Stalin would have gone against that same evil. A Russian civil war might have led to freedom for the Russian people. Can’t have that.
And I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but it feels like we’re in about the same situation right now. A civil war might be the only thing that could save the nation from the destruction we’re enduring. But for that to happen, evil would have to roll the dice and take a chance and let that conflict occur. I don’t see that happening.
Globohomos = Tucker’s producer Justin and his husband.
My understanding is that Hitler had no choice—he was running out of oil and taking on Moscow was not practical if the battle lasted for any extended period of time—and most likely it would have lasted at least a few months.
He made many dumb moves—but I am not persuaded this was one of them.
He could be trying to warn us.
I went to China long ago, much of it was a dump.
The same places now look like Hong Kong.
In the meantime American cities, impressive back in the day, are merely a shell of their former selves.
There’s been a remarkable deterioration of many American cities recently. I have seen the same in Europe except Switzerland and Eastern Europe.
