Tucker Carlson’s fulsome praise of Russia’s capital city is so far off the mark, it’s embarrassing.
Moscow,” Tucker Carlson announced this week, from his populist redoubt at the World Government Summit in Dubai, “is so much nicer than any city in my country. I had no idea. It is so much cleaner, and safer and prettier, aesthetically. Its architecture, food, and services than in any city in the United States. And this is not ideological. How did that happen?”
The simplest answer to this inquiry is that it didn’t.
I daresay that Carlson did, indeed, have a nice time when he visited Moscow. As a rich foreign tourist who was being carefully minded by the Russian government, he was undoubtedly exposed to the Moscow that its champions wanted him to see. And that city, I’ll wager, is pretty swell. But still. Better than every city in the United States? The idea is ridiculous. I have been to Moscow. I have also been to most of the major cities in America. There is no sense in which Moscow could be placed at the top of the list. There is a small part of the place that is rather pretty, and, thanks largely to the mafia, a few good restaurants have popped up, but the rest of it remains as bleak and moribund and soulless as it was during the Soviet era. It is a museum, and an ugly one at that.

How about East St. Louis, Detroit, or Los Angeles?
I doubt that Tucker has ever been to Boise. That city IMHO is awesome!
This guy can go to San Francisco, then Denver and spend a weekend in Chicago.
I’ll let other posters offer up their favorite cities in the USA.
National Cuck (Review) is doing to do what cucks do, they cuck.
Writes a person who most likely lives in a gated community.
Boise was a fascist city during COVID mask orders, lockdowns and all that.
The persecution of people protesting for liberty in that city like Ammon Bundy disgusting.
Jackson, MS.
Bessemer, AL.
Memphis, TN.
Detroit, MI.
There are a lot of chit holes in the US.
There are a lot of chit holes in Russia.
There are a lot of chit holes in China.
It just depends on where you look in a country.
Romantic sentimental bullcrap. Now, lets see you stroll through DC, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Downtown Denver, East Los Angeles. Live stream it for us.
For extra credit wear a MAGA hat, or stop and pray at an abortion clinic....then tell us more about your freedom.
Double credit, walk Philadelphia at night. North of the tourist area 10 or 15 blocks.
No its not. Its embarrassing for the US that its true.
The same is also true of Budapest (where I lived twice), Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore and plenty of other cities around the world.
Its fine to criticize this or that aspect of how various countries are ruled. But the key point is they don’t have the graffiti, the litter, the drug addled bums, the crime, the human excrement on the sidewalk, etc etc. It is perfectly possible to have a modern city and not have any of that.
Its a choice. You just have to have a society that will not tolerate it.
Look at footage from American cities in the 30s or 40s or 50s. You saw none of that. People were dressed nicely. There was little crime. The cities were clean.
We could have that again if we reversed course on many of the decisions we’ve made starting in the 60s.
Tucker misses a lot of things. He’s good at public relations and certain types of confrontation, but off the mark on a lot of things. I’m not too impressed with Tucker
ZEEPER FOLLIES PINGLIST!
(((PING!)))
... to be added to the best entertainment since Paul Shanklin parodies, ping me bro.
Funny how Tucker jetted off for a million dollar speech to a bunch of Arab sheiks at World Government Forum in Dubai right after his pilgrimage to Moscow.
I’ve been to Moscow many times on business. I would feel safer there than in such gems as Oakland, San Francisco or Chicago.
I understood the ‘point’ Tucker was trying to make. My brother went to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.. He said the Subways had chandeliers, that the seating was plush, like a lobby of a fancy hotel, no fear of being mugged, no graffiti and people kind and courteous who respected women. He said ‘innocent and cute 16 year old girls’ could be at ease in the presence of men, and it was a total shock, to compare those cities with places like San Francisco or New York City.
He said every MAJOR city. 250k is not a major city.
World Government Forum in Dubai?
Salt Lake City isn’t too bad either. But I really like Boise! Also, Boise is just one city in the Treasure Valley. On whole it is amazing! Especially Eagle!
He’s a Brit, National Review, atheist, and lives in Florida. I am sensing a gated community also.
