Navratilova lived her life as a competitive athlete. She was maybe the first among women to embrace weights and “eat-to-win”. She was looking for a competitive edge.

There was a quote from her about Chris Evert. “I don’t know how she kept playing. I was beating her so very badly. And then she started training harder and harder and next thing I knew she was winning against me sometimes. My admiration for her mental toughness was already very high, but it went much higher because she found a way.”

I do not know what lesbianism means physically. Maybe there is some change of hormones that enables more muscle, or maybe it is none of that. Maybe it’s just training. But in her day Navratilova’s physical advantages were profound.

I will say that in today’s game the women train with weights and nutrition and they look as muscular as Navratilova was. Maybe more so. And most of those are not lesbians.

So overall I am willing to hear what Navratilova’s opinion is about these matters. She’s earned it.
