I can hear it now. "It's a start." "It's not enough." Does anyone really think the recipients will say, "Ah. Now we're happy. Thank you very much! The slate has been wiped clean. Reparations have been paid in full. The net effect of affirmative action and DEI has even awarded punitive damages to Americans that were never slaves and/or descended from slaves.

Filling out the FAFSA form for student loans was reminder last weekend. We don’t get a break for being descendant from Europe. No breaks at all, and in some cases reverse racism when applying for jobs. The systemic bias doesn’t cure anything, it simply creates more disunity. Fuels hatred when we should, by now, have learned to love one another.

Its a complete fiction, which gives blacks a false sense of righteousness, and above all, gives the left a cudgel they can use to beat on American culture.

Slavery was actually a failed economic system, a relic of ancient times. It built very little, except some wealth for an extremely small class of elites. If slaves truly built anything lasting, the South would have won the Civil War and Capitalist Britain would not have outlawed it and hunted slave-traders.

Don’t make me laugh. If blacks built this country, why didn’t the South win the Civil War? I think you can state as a historical fact that it was the explorers, the frontier settlers, the scientists, the engineers and the entrepreneurs who can take the credit. Sure, the slaves in the South did much of the heavy lifting, but that’s hardly a compelling argument. And besides, the North didn’t have that resource, so they had to invent, develop, and build machinery to do that kind of work. Plus they had engineers who designed a vast infrastructure of navigable rivers, canals, and railways, traversed by steam powered machines manufactured in huge factories. All of it American built, be it black, white, or any color of your choice.

“Slaves built this country” That’s the biggest lie from this whole thing. Slavery was a drag on the economy, especially the South. By 1860 they were behind the North in every economic measure, and they knew it.
