Tucker Carlson defended on Monday his decision not to question Russian President Vladimir Putin about allegations that the Kremlin has ordered assassinations of political dissidents.
"Every leader kills people. Some kill more than others," the former Fox News host said.
His comments came during a discussion at the World Government Summit in Dubai that touched upon his interview last week with the Russian leader. The interview, taped on February 6 and aired two nights later, has made international headlines for numerous statements made by Putin, including his supposed rationale for invading Ukraine.
During the Dubai summit, Egyptian journalist Emad el-Din Adeeb asked Carlson why he didn't ask Putin about jailed Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, alleged political assassinations or restrictions in Russia's upcoming presidential election.
"I didn't talk about the things that every other American media outlet talks about," Carlson said.
After Adeeb pressed him further, Carlson added: "Because those are covered and because I have spent my life talking to people who run countries in various countries and have concluded the following: that every leader kills people, including my leader.
"Every leader kills people. Some kill more than others. Leadership requires killing people.

If you're not fangirling zElensky like Erin Burnett, you're a Putin Puffer...
Tucker sent hate emails about President Trump to his Fox buddies while The Steal was happening instead of going on his show and trying to stop The Steal.
Tucker was MIA until after Biden was inaugurated.
That’s why he lost half his audience in 2 months.
Selidovo: wha happen!
“Ruzzians aren’t people”
LOL!
Glad you found this to be funny! I think the Ruzzians are utterly hilarious for a nation of retrograde and uncultured troglodytes.
“What is Tucker’s moral compass? Other than self-aggrandizement, I can’t think of one.”
Do you think his statement about leaders was not true?
“”Every leader kills people. Some kill more than others. Leadership requires killing people.”
Well, now there’s a Tucker comment that I can’t argue with. He’s correct. It comes with the job... and it’s understood. Anyone that denies that is either delusional or lying.
“Here’s hoping that some patriotic Russian shoots Putin in the back of the head like he deserves so this stupid war can be brought to an end.”
Another would step right up and take command (new boss, same as the old boss).
These demented people, like Burnett, are repulsive.
“What is Tucker’s moral compass? Other than self-aggrandizement, I can’t think of one.”
Damned if I can, either. He tells just enough truth to come off (he hopes) as credible. He’s not.
You should know by now that I don’t take any of these reports seriously, regardless of from which side they spew forth.
It’s all a bunch of hyperbolic BS and the FR cheerleaders spreading it are just as bad.
Journalism has become a joke. And so have you guys. 😏
“Another would step right up and take command (new boss, same as the old boss).”
Ruzzians gotta Ruzz.
Walter Duranty won a Pulitzer Prize for making excuses for Stalin.
“Ok. Time to take the internet away from grandpa.”
So what adjectives would you prefer? Co-conspirators? Enablers? Election theft facilitators? Grandpa is correct. Fox helped the left get away with the steal. And Tucker stayed on with Fox, despite that fact. He had to be fired from Fox. All facts.
Tucker got fired by Fox for those emails. He was deposed by Dominion and Fox lawyers over those emails. They would have been entered into evidence if Fox hadn’t settled with Dominion.
“True perhaps, but like Trump, Tucker says things that come back to give him trouble.”
And both are entitled to their opinions. Just as.... we are entitled to our opinion about their opinions.
Well that’s clearly true. Every President for quite some time has ordered people killed. The same is true of every other major power and even plenty of leaders of middle tier powers.
“It’s all very odd.”
Or perhaps just all part of the act.
