Neptune and Pluto were “invented” before they were discovered.

Yes but Pluto didn’t meet the criteria for the 9th planet. Therr re e are those still searching for it

Pluto, at least, just happened to eventually be in the area they were looking for it in, but has completely different characteristics (it is roughly 1/460th the mass it was thought to be based upon a miscalculation of Neptune’s mass, and in a different orbit). Its appearance in that spot was a coincidence that didn’t occur for decades after the calculations were completed.
