Very interesting considering Merle Haggard died in 2016. But....but....Joe Biden talked with him just yesterday.

Merle disowned Oakie from Muskogee in front of me at a Seattle concert in about 1999.
He refused to sing a bunch of its words, claiming he had forgotten them.
The stage backdrop was pure Socialist Realist, and (iirc) included the raised fist of leftism.

Haggard started smoking marijuana later in life, around 1978. He continued using it on and off for some years, reportedly quitting in 1995. However, there were indications that he may have resumed later in life. He openly admitted to a brief but intense period of cocaine abuse in 1983. He bought a large amount and spent several months partying on his houseboat. He eventually recognized the destructive nature of his behavior and quit cold turkey.

Hippies were harmless losers [...] the People's Coalition for Peace and Justice - the visible arm of the Communist Party and the New Mobe - the visible arm of the Socialist Worker's Party [...] funding of the Anti-Vietnam War movement.
Don't you mean the current leaders and elitists in the Democrat Party? And not too few in the upper echelons of the Republican party too, I might add!

When Nixon was inaugurated in January 1969, the US already had over 500,000 troops in Vietnam. It was Johnson’s war. Period.
